OFHS Scheduling – 8th Grade Students

Dear Eighth Grade Parents:

During the next few weeks, your son or daughter will be taking initial steps in planning a high school program. Many important decisions are made which will affect the courses your student will take during the next four years at Olmsted Falls High School. Below is an outline of our scheduling program which is designed to ease the transition to high school and maximize the educational experience of your son or daughter.

  1. All parents and students are invited and encouraged to attend an evening freshmen orientation on Monday, February 8, 2016 in the high school auditorium. Last names A – K should attend from 6:30 p.m. – 7:15 p.m; last names L – Z should attend from 7:30 p.m. – 8:15 p.m. During the orientation, topics such as guidance services, high school courses and curriculum, graduation requirements, and scheduling will be discussed. Counselors will be available for individual questions after each presentation. If you are unable to attend, the presentation will be posted in the high school website.

  2. Students will complete their freshman schedule with a high school counselor at the middle school in early March. Please discuss course selections with your student prior to their scheduling date. Students should bring home a copy of scheduled courses at that time.

  3. If you have questions or concerns after receiving your student’s schedule an individual conference can be scheduled with a high school counselor by calling the high school guidance office at (440) 427-6116. Please ensure all schedule change requests are completed prior to June 7, 2016.

It is my sincere hope that these efforts will answer your questions regarding the high school scheduling process and ensure a smooth transition for your student.
