September 11: Patriot Day

OFMS will recognize Patriot Day on Friday, September 11, by having a moment of silence immediately following the Pledge of Allegiance at 8:30 AM.

We are asking students and staff to wear red, white, and blue in recognition of our fallen heroes and first responders who helped others and/or lost their lives in the act of duty.

Students may wear red bandanas in support of our volleyball teams and their support of the Red Bandana Project. The Red Bandana Project was started in memorial of a young man who died on 9/11 as he was assisting others to safety. His selfless act of good will and kindness saved the lives of others at the expense of his own. The people he saved remembered only that the person who assisted them was wearing a red bandana. His heroic effort is just one example of the sacrifice many made on 9/11 for the benefit of others.
