Dear OFMS Students & Parents,

Over the summer, our district shared the news with you that we have enrolled with STOPit Solutions Anonymous Reporting System. STOPit is a technology platform that will help to deter and mitigate bullying, cyber abuse, inappropriate behaviors, and other safety/security concerns. Effective July 1, 2022, STOPit officially replaced the district’s previous anonymous reporting system (Safe School Helpline).

Our students, families, and staff have access to the STOPit mobile app, website, and 24/7 incident response phone line.

Specifically, the platform helps individuals to:

  • Recognize the signs of at-risk behaviors

  • Take every sign and signal seriously

  • Report it anonymously through STOPit App/Web or 24/7 Incident Response Center

  • Submit photo or video evidence (App/Web Only)

  • Alert designated administrators to issues and risks early, before they escalate

At Olmsted Falls Middle School, we place a high value on building personal relationships with our students and continually encourage them to reach out directly to a trusted adult at home or at school with any issues they may be experiencing or observing.  However, we realize that people may not always be comfortable reaching out directly.  The STOPit platform provides a truly anonymous method of reaching out to report a concern or seek personal crisis support.

Students have the power to help put an end to harmful and inappropriate behavior they may see at school or online through social media and other means. They can use STOPit to reach out for help if they or a peer are facing a personal crisis or experiencing bullying, abuse, or otherwise in need of assistance. They can use STOPit to report a safety or security concern of any kind. Our goal with STOPit is to create safer, kinder, school communities both online and off.

To learn more about how to use the new STOPit platform, we encourage you to view the following video with your student(s):

In our building, middle school students are also being made aware of the new STOPit platform through the following:

  • Posters throughout the building feature information on the three ways to access the platform.

  • Students will receive a copy of this email and have access to the STOPit Student Training video (link provided above).

  • Reminder announcements about the availability of the STOPit and how to download it.

As a reminder, there are three ways to access STOPit:

  1. Download STOPit Mobile App free from Apple App Store or Google Play. Search for & select your school building name to start a report.  [NOTE: the STOPit mobile app also allows for anonymous, two-way communication between students and school administrators with the STOPit Messenger feature to further aid in the resolution of reported issues.]

  2. Visit STOPit Website https://appweb.stopitsolutions.com/directory. Search for & select your school building name to start a report.

  3. Call STOPit Phone Line at #440-581-7333 to speak anonymously with the 24/7 incident response center.

No personal information is needed to use STOPit. The only way personally identifiable information will be accessible through STOPit is if a requester voluntarily includes it within the content of a request or message.

We look forward to working together to maximize the safety, security, and well-being of our students! We encourage students and families to reach out with any questions or concerns about our new STOPit Anonymous Reporting System.

Thank you for your time and attention!

Mr. Kurz
