The Westword Music Showcase returns to the Golden Triangle neighborhood on June 21. The day-long music festival features over 140 of Denver’s best bands on 15 stages in addition to an outdoor stage with headliners Diplo and 2 Chainz. This is Westword’s 20th annual Showcase, and as always it works to spotlight the incredible talent and creativity of Denver’s musicians. Each of the local bands playing is a nominee for a Westword Music Award — a distinction earned by the recommendation of a panel of area musicians, music industry luminaries and media members. Among this year’s artists are Denver Museum of Nature and Science collaborator and brilliant cellist Ian Cooke, spectacularly failed American Idol contestant Magic Cyclops and the last two winners of Westword’s Best New Band: The Dirty Few and Inner Oceans.
The outdoor stage in the heart of the neighborhood, meanwhile, will feature some of the most vital artists at the moment in a wide variety of genres: Diplo, 2 Chainz, King Khan and the Shrines, Man Man and Cherub.
